Proven Effective Leadership

The Responsible Leadership Our City Needs Now
I’m running for mayor because I believe our city is at a crossroads. I believe my experience, my proven track record in public safety and fiscally conservative values make me the best choice to lead us forward during these uncertain times.

Safety is the number one concern on the minds of Sioux Falls residents and my top priority.
Nothing else matters if the citizens of Sioux Falls don't feel secure. People won't want to live here, work here or raise their children here. Our city will be less attractive to businesses looking to expand or relocate. Our quality of life and our future depend on making Sioux Falls a safe place for all.
That's why I've spent so much of my campaign working with law enforcement experts focusing on making our city safer. As a result, I'm proud to have secured endorsements from:
- The Sioux Falls Police Labor Council
- Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Swenson
- Lincoln County States Attorney Tom Wollman
- Minnehaha County States Attorney Daniel Haggar
- Former Sioux Falls Chief of Police Doug Barthel
- Former SD Director of Public Safety Trevor Jones
As mayor, I will ensure our police officers, deputies, firefighters and first responders have the staffing, tools, training and community support they need to do their jobs safely and effectively. We also must strengthen partnerships focused on mental health response, crime prevention, youth engagement and successful re-entry for individuals returning from incarceration.
Ultimately, public safety requires leadership, relationships and action. I have the experience and commitment to continue moving Sioux Falls forward safely.
Economic concerns have become an issue across the country and Sioux Falls is no exception. As I meet with families around the city, rising costs and affordability have people worried, especially our older citizens living on a fixed income. Households across Sioux Falls have learned how to stretch every dollar without lowering their standards. City government needs to do the same - with smarter spending, better priorities and real accountability.
As mayor, I'll address our affordability issues with a strong focus on fiscal responsibility. I'll work to provide property tax relief by ensuring that those seniors who are eligible for freezing the assessments on their homes are taking full advantage of existing programs. I'll resist increasing local taxes until such time as our economy shows improvement. Cutting red tape will be a focus of my administration, getting government out of the way of local companies. This will help to avoid creating unnecessary production costs that are invariably passed on to consumers.
With your support, I will be a mayor who is laser focused on making Sioux Falls a safer, more affordable place, for your family and mine - and the future of this great city.

About Christine
A Lifetime of Service and Commitment
Christine Erickson is a respected business executive and civic leader based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Born in Rapid City and raised in a working-class family, her values were shaped by hard work, service, and integrity — principles she continues to carry into every facet of her professional and public life.
Christine’s early exposure to service came naturally as her father served in the U.S. Army and her mother worked in a local school cafeteria. These roots laid the foundation for her deep commitment to community. She earned an associate degree in Business Administration from National American University and a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Sioux Falls.
She always had an interest in protecting taxpayers, having worked for the South Dakota Department of Revenue, where she was recognized as “Revenue Agent of the Year” for her excellence and accountability. In 2012, Christine was elected to the South Dakota House of Representatives for District 11, and in 2014, transitioned to serve as an at-large member of the Sioux Falls City Council. Over her eight-year tenure, she built a reputation for pragmatic leadership, transparency, and advocating for policies that reflected common sense and long-term impact.
In 2021, Christine became President of both the South Dakota Auto Dealers Association and the South Dakota Trucking Association — two integral industries to the state and the nation. Under her leadership, these organizations have become more modernized, tech-driven, and efficient in serving their members and South Dakota’s economic growth.
Christine brings a clear leadership philosophy: "Will it work? Will it make things better?" She believes the people of Sioux Falls deserve real results — not political wins and losses, but measurable improvements that make life better for families, businesses, and neighborhoods.
Christine is engaged to Jason Wilson, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps who served as part of the security detail for President George H.W. Bush at HMX-1 and is currently an executive in the automotive industry. She is the proud mother of three sons who keep her on her toes. Her eldest, Anthony attends South Dakota State University, where he is studying business and is a kicker for the SDSU football team. Braylon is a junior at Jefferson High School, and enjoys playing football, basketball, and hitting the golf course with his friends. Charlie will begin his freshman year at Jefferson High School, where he’ll play football and can almost always be found on a basketball court. All three boys share a love of sports and a quick wit — keeping their mom constantly entertained with their sense of humor.
Christine Erickson’s multifaceted career — spanning government, business, and community advocacy — exemplifies her deep commitment to service, leadership, and the future of Sioux Falls. She continues to be a trusted and dynamic voice for progress across South Dakota.
I'm running to build on our city's incredible strength and community spirit.
I want our kids to grow up in a safe, forward-thinking community.
Good leadership means working with all sides to find real, workable solutions.
A Vision For Sioux Falls
Our city is growing — and with that growth comes real challenges that require strong, experienced leadership. We need a mayor who doesn’t wait for permission to lead, but brings her own chair to the table — someone who builds bridges with state, county, and neighboring communities to get things done.
This campaign belongs to Sioux Falls and to everyone who calls it home. Over the coming months, we’ll host a series of community feedback sessions across the city where we’ll have a chance to hear directly from those impacted and discuss solutions that can actually make a difference. Because in Sioux Falls, we are stronger together.
And with every policy, every program, every dollar spent, we’ll ask two simple but essential questions:
Will it work? And will it make things better?
We are at a crossroads in Sioux Falls. Will we invest in the basics that will ensure success for decades or will we take our eye off the ball and focus on programs and initiatives that are unnecessary and cost taxpayers money.
My focus will be on ensuring Sioux Falls is the safest community and that we are smart about our continued growth.
Safe Sioux Falls
Sioux Falls must ensure our police and emergency responders are at full capacity and have the resources needed to do their job. Those who serve our community in that capacity put their life on the line every day and it’s essential they have what they need to do their jobs and feel supported throughout the community.
We must also focus on improving outcomes for those re-entering society following incarceration. I’ll prioritize strategic investments in public safety, ensure our first responders have the tools and training they need, and expand community-based partnerships to build trust between law enforcement and residents — including focused work on mental health response, crime prevention, and youth engagement.
Smart Community Growth for Sioux Falls
As mayor, I’ll focus on balanced, strategic development that keeps our city livable for families, seniors, and young professionals alike. That means:
Growth is inevitable — but how we grow will define Sioux Falls for generations.
Smart Economic Growth for Sioux Falls
- Implement modern, tech-forward solutions in City Hall
- Cut unnecessary red tape
- Support job creation in both established industries and emerging sectors
- Promote innovation and entrepreneurship
We’ll build a city that works — for everyone who calls Sioux Falls home.
